Es ist keine Lesung, keine Probe und ganz sicher kein fertiges Stück, sondern eine einmalige, nicht reproduzierbare Live-Performance in vier Folgen. Eine Flucht nach vorn oder ein Spiel mit dem Jetzt. In jeder Folge tippt ein*e andere*r Autor*in live. Die Worte entstehen im Moment. Die Performerinnen agieren direkt: Text wird zur Aktion – Aktion trifft auf Material – Material verändert Aktion – Aktion trifft wieder den Text und andersherum. Niemand weiß, wer den nächsten Impuls gibt. Der*die Autor*in, die Performerinnen, die Szenografin? Sicher ist nur: Alles beeinflusst alles. Die Künstler*innen schreiben und performen live. Ihr seid live dabei. Mit duftendem Kaffee.

Lene Albrecht (Berlin) schreibt Romane, Hörspiele und Essays. 2019 erschien ihr Debütroman »Wir, im Fenster«, 2024 folgte »Weiße Flecken«. Als Teil des Kollektivs von »Writing with CARE/RAGE«, setzte sie sich für die Vereinbarkeit von künstlerischer Arbeit und Sorgearbeit ein. »wir kommen« erschien als Kollektiv-Roman zu weiblicher* Lust. Zuletzt entstand mit »Kamina« eine Doku-Fiction für Deutschlandfunk Kultur. Als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin an der Europa-Universität Viadrina denkt sie unter anderem mit Studierenden darüber nach, was Schreiben im Zeitalter von KI bedeutet.

 Wie ein nasses Tuch im Nacken bei krasser Sommerhitze kommt der (so gut wie) letzte Balearic Sunday in diesem Jahr, um den Knick in der Optik der Welt ein kleines bisschen zu begradigen. Mit den richtigen Vibes und Tracks stehen die Chancen eh immer am besten auf positiven Bewusstseinseinfluss. Vielleicht auch drüber hinaus. Und zur Not einfach nochmal über Balearic nachdenken beim Tanzen. Das hat noch keiner Person geschadet. Deshalb auch hier nochmal die fünf Definitionsangebote der Saison. Bald gibt’s ne Umfrage. 

These 1: Das musikalische Äquivalent von glitzerndem Sonnenlicht auf einer Wasseroberfläche. 

These 2: Ein ewiges Ibiza, Anfang der 80er. 

These 3: Das eklektischste Genre der Tanzmusik. 

These 4: Alles zwischen Acid, Afro, Cosmic, Disco, Italo, Post Punk, Reggae, Wave, Zouk und allen möglichen Proto-Tanzmusik-Genres von Chicago bis zum Gardasee. 

These 5: Gar kein Genre, sondern eine Überzeugung, Menschen mit gut gelaunter Musik zum Tanzen zu bringen, die eben nicht super gleichförmig daherkommt. 

Dozentin der Freude ist diesmal Courtney Bailey, die bei den Reisen zu DJ-Gigs zwischen ihren Bases Tokio und Berlin immer wieder balearische Impulse aufschnappt. Gutes Fundament für ihre Tunes, die zuletzt in einem hervorragenden Album »In Dream« auf Second Circle, Sublabel der Tastemaker von Music From Memory kulminierten. Im Vorfeld sorgen das glücklicherweise längst nicht mehr so gut gehütete Hallenser Geheimnis, das Hilde Pank ist, sowie Gastgeber Philipp Demankowski für den richtigen Schwung. 

Like a cold, wet towel draped across your neck in the middle of a brutal summer heatwave, the (almost) last Balearic Sunday of the year arrives to straighten out the world's slightly crooked perspective—at least a little. The right vibes and the right tracks have always been the best recipe for a positive shift in consciousness. Maybe even beyond that. And if all else fails, just spend a little more time thinking about what Balearic actually means while you're dancing. Nobody's ever been worse off for doing that. So, one more time, here are this season's five working definitions. Poll coming soon.

Theory #1: The musical equivalent of sunlight sparkling on the surface of the sea.

Theory #2: Ibiza, forever, in the early '80s.

Theory #3: The most eclectic genre in dance music.

Theory #4: Everything between Acid, Afro, Cosmic, Disco, Italo, Post-Punk, Reggae, Wave, Zouk, and every imaginable proto-dance sound from Chicago to Lake Garda.

Theory #5: Not a genre at all, but a belief that people should dance to music that makes them feel good without sounding formulaic.

This time, our professor of joy is Courtney Bailey, who keeps picking up Balearic inspirations while travelling between DJ gigs from her home bases in Tokyo and Berlin. A perfect foundation for the tunes that most recently culminated in her outstanding album »In Dream«, released on Second Circle, the sublabel of the tastemakers at Music From Memory. Getting things rolling beforehand are Halle's no-longer-quite-so-best-kept secret Hilde Pank, alongside host Philipp Demankowski, making sure the dancefloor hits its stride from the very beginning.

A contemporary performance for two bodies, two microphones, light, sound and hesitation.

Today the body has become a stage. It must be optimized, displayed, narrated, and continuously performed. To exist is no longer enough: one must demonstrate existence.

Drawing on the writings of Maura Gancitano and Andrea Colamedici, Søren Kierkegaard, and

Zygmunt Bauman, the performance investigates the relationship between freedom, choice, and paralysis in a society where every possibility remains open and every decision seems irreversible.

Two performers move through shifting landscapes of light and sound. Their bodies oscillate between exposure as in a tiktok dance and disappearance, action and suspension. They follow trajectories dictated by invisible rules, pursuing recognition while confronting the fear of becoming irrelevant.

Hamlet’s question — “To be or not to be” — becomes the defining question of the present: how can we choose one life when countless alternatives remain available?

Part performance, part philosophical landscape, Hamlet [or F.O.M.O.] transforms existential doubt into a physical experience, inviting audiences to reflect on what it means to act, to hesitate, and ultimately to exist.

The project also includes two participatory installations, which will be accessible in the foyer from 5:30 PM onwards:

I Never Gave You Anything, an archive of unfinished letters, abandoned thoughts and unrealized possibilities

To Be or Not To Be, an individual installation where visitors interact with some questions, contributing to a growing collective archive of identities.
